Marcelo Guimarães Lima is a visual artist, teacher, researcher and writer. He studied Philosophy at the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil (BA 1978), Studio Art and History of Art at the University of New Mexico, USA (MFA 1986, PhD 1988). He is the author of "Heterochronia and Vanishing Viewpoints" (Metasenta, Melbourne, 2012) and of essays, papers and articles on the History of Art, Philosophy, Art Criticism, Psychology of Art and related subjects. 

His artworks have been exhibited in Brazil, the USA, Australia, France, Portugal, Romania, the UAE. He taught History of Art and Studio Art in the USA (University of Illinois, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Goddard College) and the UAE (American University of Dubai) and, as guest lecturer/ visiting scholar, in Spain (Universidad de Salamanca, Uiversidad Internacional de Andalucia). He directed community based art projects in Brazil and the USA.
